Where are we going?

We are going to hit all the northern coast of Spain. The tour will start with the coast of País Vasco and its typical flysch rock formation.

Then we will move along the Costa Quebrada alongside the Cantabrian Sea, with so many gorgeous seastacks and endless photo opportunities.

After that, we are going to set foot in the Asturias, a natural paradise where we will go through some amazing and unique beaches. Finally, we will get to wild coast of Galicia. Here we will experience beaches changing continuously their form according to the tides.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Bilbao and hotel check-in. Depending on the arrival time of the participants, a sunset session may be scheduled in a nearby location. In the evening, we will have the opportunity to get around the city for some photos and enjoy dinner together, providing an initial briefing for the days ahead.

Day 2 : We will move to Cantabria in a breathtaking location, Playa de Arnía e Urros de Liencres where we will be shooting at majestic seastacks both at sunset and sunrise from different spots.

Day 3 : We will then move on to the coast of Galicia, leaving behind Asturias (which we will visit in the following days).

We will admire the Galician coast, a coastline dominated by the tides that constantly transform the landscape, as in the spectacular Praia das Catedrais. In this marvellous location, we will take advantage of the low tide to walk among the majestic rock "cathedrals," natural arches that mark this incredible stretch of coast.

Here we will take advantage of the low tide immediately after sunset to have a night session and photograph the stars and the Milky Way between these wonderful natural arches.

Days 4–5:

After a sunrise session at Praia das Catedrais, we'll travel further west to admire the pristine nature of deepest Galicia. We'll visit lighthouses perched on cliffs overlooking the sea to more remote and captivating locations, hoping for epic sunrises and sunsets.

We'll enjoy the marvelous lighthouses that mark the nighttime landscape. Here, if we're lucky, we'll be able to admire the Milky Way and unleash our creativity. During these days, we will visit various locations. While there will be plenty of travel, we will also have numerous opportunities to photograph fascinating spots.

Days 6–7: We will begin our journey back east, but before reaching Bilbao, we will stop in Asturias, where we are going to visit some marvellous locations such as Playa del Silencio and Playa de Gueirúa.
Here we will be staying for two nights and go through an editing lesson during which we will discuss about the correct workflow and handling of the RAW file.
During these days we will have the chance to photograph very different locations featuring unique, photogenic cliffs that allow for a wide range of creative approaches.

Day 8: Return to Bilbao. After checking into our hotel, we will visit an iconic location in the afternoon: San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. We will stay there until sunset, being that the best time to photograph this captivating location.

Day 9: On our last day visiting around, we will hit several locations along the Basque coast to admire the characteristic flysch rock formations. We will have both sunrise and sunset sessions to photograph these distinctive landscapes at the best times of the day.

Day 10: Farewells and conclusion of the tour.

The itinerary above may be adjusted based on weather conditions and tides in order to optimize the days of the tour, allow for resting time, and dedicate the best times to the scheduled photography sessions and best light conditions.

Which topics are we going to cover?

We will cover fundamentals such as:

Photo Planning: weather conditions, quality and directionality of light and how to foresee it even before being on the location.
Composition and "scene reading". A fundamental aspect of landscape photography.
Photo Techniques, such as long exposures and the use of filters (ND/GND/Polirizer).
Advanced techniques such as double exposures (with or without bracketing).
Focus bracketing and focus stacking during editing (with Photoshop). When it's needed. Pros and Cons.
Reading and managing natural light in the scene.
Night Photography: basic and advanced techniques such as light painting and the use of a star-tracker.
Editing session with Lightroom and Photoshop. We will go through a proper workflow to edit a RAW file.

The fee includes a deposit (€750) and the remaining balance to be paid within 45 days before the start of the tour.

Once the trip is confirmed, you can request cancellation and receive a full refund of the deposit (€750)
within 90 days before the start of the tour.

When the tour is confirmed, in case you are unable to participate the amount you have already paid will be refunded only if we are able to replace your booking with a new participant (minus any expenses already incurred and not recoverable).

Who's this photo tour for?

This photo tour is for all landscape and nature photography enthusiasts, whether you are an amateur or a pro.

The physical effort required is not excessive. There will be easy walks, sometimes with steps and some elevation changes to reach the beaches, but nothing particularly strenuous.

Sometimes we will be walking into the water if possible (with low tide) to find some good spots.

In these cases, waterproof boots will be useful.

This photo tour requires a certain level of adaptability to weather conditions (which are highly variable on the coast of northern Spanish) and the marine environment, which is often affected by winds and tides.
